APAS 2012 Children's Christmas Party

APAS 2012 CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY

On Sunday Dec 16, 2012, APAS hosted its annual Children’s Christmas Party at the Jefferson Lions Club home in Jefferson, Louisiana. The event was a BIG SUCCESS. Thank you to Ms. Sokhoeun Chau (APAS board member representing the Cambodian Community) for chairing the event. Thank you to Lion Robert Romero of the New Orleans Filipino American Lions Club for making the arrangements with the Jefferson Lions Club to hold the function at their place. And thank you to Lion Jack Wallace and Lion Peggy Wallace for opening their Lion's home to the children from a diverse cultural background.

There were 87 children and 61 adults who attended the party. All activities, game prizes and some snacks were given for FREE to the children that came. The activities included Balloon art, Caricatures, crafts, face painting, calligraphy and the making of Thai Floating Lotus (Thai community) – Loi Krathong as some of the fun activities for the children. The children were introduced to our Ms. APAS 2012 - Ms Hyewon Han. Ms. Han and Ms. Aekyung Kim (Ms. Han's mother) dressed up the children with Korean traditional clothes. The children had a blast having their pictures taken in the Korean traditional clothes in front of a Christmas tree. There were martial arts demonstration from the L.I.U. Shaolin Institute and children dance performances from the New Orleans Chinese School dance team. The party was highlighted by a surprise visit by Santa Claus and Mrs Claus. The children told Santa a lot of stories during their picture taking session with Santa.

The parents and the adult chaperones had an equally fun time as well.
